In the holidays after Songkran festival in 2001, I went
to the floating market in Damnoen Saduak. It is about two hours from
Bangkok. I went there in the late afternoon and stayed in the hotel
called "Nok Noi" (Little Bird). If you want to go to
the floating market, I suggest that you should go there early in the
morning before 8 o'clock. Because if you go there later, there will
be more tourists and more boats. We went on the boat at 7.00 in the
morning. It was perfect at that time.
In floating market you can rent a boat to
go around the canal. The price is not fixed, it's around 300-400
baht per boat.
Lots of stuffs are selling on the boat everyday.
Most of them are food, fruits, vegetables and souvenirs.
Most of the tourists in the early morning are Thai people. The
boats are going around the canal and you can ask an oarsman to
stop to buy some stuff.
