During the summer holidays in April 2000, I went on a road trip to
Kanchanaburi. On the way back, I stopped at Nakhon Pathom to see the
very large Phra Pathom Chedi. This stupa is 120 metres high and the base has a radius of 233 metres.

| This chedi was built in the reign of King Rama IV. However, the original chedi is thought to be over 2,000 years old! The word "pathom" means "first" as this is the first stupa in Thailand. It is also one of the largest in the world. |
