On this page you wil find out about how you should behave when you stay with Thai host family. Some things might be a bit silly for you but you have to learn it if you want to be in Thailand.

  • Take off your shoes before you go in the house.
  • Don't sit on the chairs if older people are sitting on the floor.
  • Don't put your feet up on a chair or a table.
  • Wait for the older people to start eating first.
  • Don't leave the table until everyone has finished eating.
  • Eat with a spoon not a fork.
  • Don't put a fork in your mouth.
  • Don't put too much food on your plate. Only put a spoon full at a time.
  • Don't put your feet on a pillow.
  • Pay respect to elders.
  • Ben down when you walk pass the elders.
  • In the bathroom don't climb in the bath. Pour the water over you using a small bowl.
  • Careful you don't point your feet at anyone.
  • Don't use your feet to do things you would normally do with your hands.
