During
the summer holiday, at the end of April 2003, my girlfriend, Richard
and I went to Phetchaburi Province. We stopped to visit the famous
summer palace of His Majesty King Vajiravudh, Rama VI. It is the
Summer Palace that is located by the sea in Cha-Am district. This
huge palace was built of golden teak and thousands of concrete
pillars.
I rented my pregnant
girlfriend a bicycle because I knew that she wouldn't be up to
walking around this huge palace. My girlfriend went ahead to have
a ride while Richard and I were walking and taking some pictures
of the palace. We went up to the second floor and walked around
looking in the rooms. It is all open so it is easy to see the
inside of every room. We walked down the long open corridors to
the pavilion on the beach and rested there. The view from the
pavilion was so beautiful and also pretty windy there. We didn't
want to get up and leave. It was so nice to rest there and look
out to the sea and beach for a beautiful view. I also went down
on the beach with my girlfriend to collect some lovely shells.
After we left the
palace, I kept dreaming about having a holiday house on the beach
like the palace for my own family! What a ridiculous dream I thought
of.
