Christmas in Thailand Print E-mail
Written by Panrit "Gor" Daoruang
On Christmas Day, I didn't have a good day because I had to study books to get ready for my exam which started on Xmas day. Also, at my school we didn't have any party, we did it almost the same as a normal day. But at my old school, there was a fun party that happened. In the early morning when the kids got to school they met 2 Santa Clauses waiting by the gate. And when they walked in a bit they met lots of little angles giving some candies to the students. And in the playground there was a Christmas Tree with lots of presents. During the assembly, students sang Christmas songs and watched a play about Mary and Joseph. Really, we don't celebrate Christmas like Western countries. This is because 95% of Thai people are Buddhists. We just like having fun. So, that is why we sometimes celebrate festivals from other countries.

Santas are waiting for the students to come to school. The angels are giving some sweets to the students when they walk in the school. Students in front of Christmas tree on the playground inside the school.
Christmas lights by the roadside in Bangkok.

Shop for selling Christmas decorations. You can see they sell lots of different things. Close up for the decorations to hang on the door. Shop beside the road selling Santa Claus cap.
