Wat Mahathat is in Sukhothai. It is the largest temple in the province. Each side is about 200 meters long and surrounded by a ditch. There are 200 stupa ruins on ten wihan bases. The main stupa is a lotus - bud shape encircled with four small stupas of the Srivijaya Style and four prangs in the Khmer style. There is a large wihan that used to house a seated bronze Buddha image of the Sukhothai style, which was cast by King Lithai of Sukhothai. The image is now at Wat Suthat in Bangkok. The image is named Phra Si Sakayamuni. There is also a mondop housing a brick and plaster Buddha called "Phra Attharot".
